Commercial goods:
As an importer of commercial goods in Canada, you will need to have a business and an import license. Depending on the nature of your goods further licenses may be required.
For example, food imports require a Food Import license from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Consult the Canadian Government Import Guide to determine the license you might need for your imported commodities, as this license and invoices will be needed in order to proceed with your custom clearance.
We also track your shipment and keep you updated along the way, and we’ll notify you about the submission of the documents on the proper dates, so you can have peace of mind. After your shipment is cleared, we will make the necessary arrangements for your delivery from the Canada customs to the delivery place of your choice.
Personal goods:
If you decided to move to Canada, congratulations on your choice and welcome!
While you prepare your personal belongings and your household items for shipping to Canada, be sure to choose the proper local moving company at the departure country. Make a packing list and label every box with what is in them; this makes unpacking much easier when the freight arrives to your new home. Secure any fragile items with extra packing protection. Check if the moving/shipping company you choose is licensed exporter and have them contact us directly for the information they will need to document your export.
When you land at the airport you need to note on the Customs Declaration form (provided by customs) that you have shipped unaccompanied personal effects to follow. Go through the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) to fill out the proper documents to avoid taxes and duties, where applicable, depending on your status in Canada. They will require you to submit your packing list declaring exactly what items you are bringing into the country. Note that there are restrictions and limitations on certain items, so check ahead of time the below links and avoid delays or holds from Canada customs:
Once your shipment arrives, Canada customs requires you to be there in person in order to proceed with the customs clearance within five days after its arrival date; if exceeded Canada customs warehouses will charge you with storage fees. After your shipment is cleared, you can pick it up directly from customs. If you have special delivery requirements, we can help find the best solution for you.
